The 29^th of January History Calendar

On this day 129 years ago in 1895 the schooner Hind, while carrying coal from Newcastle to London, was sunk in collision with the SS Shearwater. Read the story of the Hind here.

One year later in 1896 Thomas William Hood of the Stather built fishing ketch Diamond, fell into the River Humber, two days after surviving the ship stranding at Withernsea. He died three days later.
