Introduction

Robert Gardiner died on the 5th of November 1916, aged 26.

Son of Daniel and Anna Gardiner, of Railway Cottages, Ellerby, Skirlaugh, Hull, born in Ellerby. The 1911 census finds Robert working alongside Walter Boreham as an estate gardener at Normanby Park.

Robert enlisted in Hull. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France.
