On this day 100 years ago in 1917 Gunner of the 245th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, died aged 39. Burton born Edwin was husband to Margaret Bray, of Middlesbrough.

On this day 74 years ago in 1943 Flying Officer of the RAF Volunteer Reserve, was killed when his Bristol Beaufighter crashed during a training exercise over Cornwall. Son of James and Elvina May Young, of Burton upon Stather.
