A Ketch

On this day 142 years ago in 1882 the Stather built Hull fishing ketch H678, was the scene of a most cruel murder which took place in the North Sea. The second hand Edward Wheatfill killed the cook, Peter Hughes after subjecting him to more than a month of torturous abuse. Wheatfill was hung at York and skipper Daniel Callan was charged as being an accessory.
