Burton upon Stather Heritage Group
The 7th of February History Calendar
On this day 131 years ago in 1893, two fishing smacks built at Burton Stather, Vigilant
and Cornflower, collided in the North Sea.
Both survived the bump.
On the same day 111 years ago, in 1913, another Stather built Ketch ran into problems.
R Passmore
was stranded on rocks at Crail Harbour after the tug that towed her from Kirkaldy let her go.
Again, the ketch survived the incident.
